Premium Asus Chromebook details revealed by FCC

FCC data has revealed details of a new Chromebook 2-in-1 from Asus, which could come with support for a stylus.

The device is currently known as the Asus Chromebook C302CA and looks to be a 2-in-1, with a 360-degree hinge, just like last year’s Chromebook Flip convertible.

According to the FCC filing, spotted by Notebook Italia, the Chromebook will come with a 12.5-inch 1080p IPS touchscreen and at least an Intel M3-6Y30 Skylake processor, alongside up to 8GB of RAM.

Elsewhere, there’s 32GB eMMC storage, a 39kWh battery, and 802.11AC Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while ports look to come in the form of two USB-C connections and a microSD card reader.

It also looks like Asus could include support for a stylus, as there seems to be a slot for such a pen built into the aluminium chasis.

Neither the USB-C ports or stylus have been confirmed by the FCC information, but look to be present in the photos of the device.

The design of the as yet unconfirmed Chromebook looks similar to the Chromebook Flip, featuring a 360-degree hinge, allowing the device to be used in stand, tent, or tablet modes.

Unfortunately, it looks like the convertible won’t be too affordable when it launches, with a rumoured price of around €700 to €800 (about £620/$770 to £715/$890).

Of course, Asus is yet to confirm the existence of the new Chromebook, so it could be the price is lower, or even higher, when the device launches.

We’ll keep you updated with the latest as it becomes available in the future.
