Pornhub launches free VPN so users can get off with nobody watching

PornHub has created its own virtual private network (VPN), to help users guard against online snooping and censorship.

The new VPNHub platform, which is owned and operated by the celebrated adult entertainment site, will enable users to hide their IP address and browsing activities.

Available globally from today, the company promises “full data encryption and guaranteed anonymity” and the ability to “bypass censorship” with secure and private access to the internet – not just PornHub.

VPNHub is available to download now for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac and offers free and unlimited bandwidth on mobile devices. There’s also a premium tier promising faster connections, desktop access, no ads and 24/7 support. New new customers can get a 7-day free trial.

The company is promising it won’t store the browsing history from the 1,000 servers in 15 countries.

“With 90 million visitors a day, the vast majority of whom are using devices on the go, it’s especially important that we continue to ensure the privacy of our users,” the company said.

Not related to AgeID

The launch seems like a smart play from PornHub, given current fears over online snooping, data harvesting and efforts to crack down on easy access to adult sites.

The UK in particular is about to introduce age verification laws, while past government rulings have compelled consumers to “opt in” to view adult content at home. Despite this, VPN Hub is available in the UK..

“VPNhub is a separate service and not related to AgeID.” PornHub VP Corey Price Price told Engadget. He said the service is designed only to “provide users with an encrypted tunnel through which they can anonymously browse the internet securely.”
