PornByEmail will get around UK porn barrier by sliding smut into your inbox

A saucy new service with a satisfyingly old-school feel is promising to help porn-hunters get their share of online smut when the UK’s new age verification barrier for porn sites goes live… at some point later this year (it was supposed to happen in April).

When the age gate arrives, anybody looking to access online porn in Blighty will first have to prove they’re 18 or older. The measure is designed to prevent innocent youngsters from stumbling across the rough stuff when they’re supposed to be busy skimming through SparkNotes.

PornByEmail, the brainchild of Gareth Llewellyn, promises to slide filth directly into your inbox, The Register reports. It’s not quite ready yet though.

To get your fill, all you’ll need to do is bash out a message to SendMe@PornBy.Email with the subject line “Preference” and your favourite adult movie star’s name, and then wait for the nasty stuff to swing its way over to you.

One of the biggest concerns surrounding the incoming age verification gate is the fact you’ll need to create an account using your personal details. There are fears that the system used for this will be a prime target for hackers, who would be able to gather a treasure-trove of sensitive (and embarrassing) info if they ever managed to successfully penetrate it.

With PornByEmail, there’s nothing to sign up for (though we’d still recommend setting up a new email account for it). What’s more, the service runs autonomously and, according to Llewellyn, because there’s no PornByEmail website to block, ISPs won’t be able to stick their oars in and stop it from working.

Slightly less fun porn barrier workarounds involve using a VPN or Tor.
