Pokémon Go Plus accessory delayed – here's when you'll now be able to get it

The Pokémon Go Plus accessory will now launch in September instead of at the end of July as initially planned, Nintendo has confirmed.

The company announced the sudden delay on Twitter for both the UK and US earlier today:

Pokémon Go Plus allows players to continue playing the popular mobile game without having to constantly look at their phone.

Using Bluetooth, the device connects to your smartphone and alerts you when Pokémon or Poké Stops are nearby with the use of subtle vibrations and LED notifications.

Nintendo gave no specific reason for the delay, but it's likely due to demand for the device considering Pokémon Go’s immensepopularity.

Here's how the gadget works.

Poké Stop alerts

The Pokémon Go Plus will begin to blink and vibrate whenever you're within range of a Poké Stop. Press the Pokémon Go Plus button to search the Poké Stop for items. If you find any, swipe or tap them to add them to your inventory.

Pokémon are nearby

When a Pokémon is near, the light on the Pokémon GO Plus will flash, just like it blinks when you pass a Poké Stop.

If the Pokémon is close enough, press the button on the Pokémon Go Plus to throw a Poké Ball. You'll only be able to throw a Poké Ball using Pokémon Go Plus if you've caught the Pokémon before.

The Plus will then flash and vibrate again to let you know if you were successful in catching the Pokémon.
