Pokémon GO Halloween Event: Third-gen Pokémon to appear in wild?

Pokemon GO may have lost a little of the momentum it enjoyed in the summer of 2016, but developer Niantic looks to be cooking up a Halloween event with the potential to bring in third-generation Pokemon.

“The Halloween season is a special time in Pokémon GO. Plenty of good stuff is coming to the game later this October, and we can’t wait to get out and about to see what sort of excitement we can scare up while catching new Pokémon to fill out our Pokédex,” The Pokemon Company, the organisation responsible for the Pokemon franchise, said on its website.

This would suggest that there’re plans to bring a more Pokemon into the augmented reality meets pseudo exercise and exploration app, or it could be mean an evolution of last year’s increased spawn rate of ‘spooky’ Pokemon, such as the bat-like Ghastly.

While The Pokemon Company and Niantic are doing little more than tease the potential for more digital creatures to make their way into the app, features such as Pokemon pumpkin stencils are available to download to help kids and overseeing adults carve out pumpkins with a resemblance to the likes of Pikachu and pals. And Halloween themed Pokemon merchandise is now available in the Pokemon Centre online store.

Pokemon GO players will have to stay tuned as Niantic and The Pokemon Company develop their plans for a Halloween event, be we reckon fans of the mobile game should be prepared to spot more Pokemon that fit the season’s traditional day of creepiness and ghostly stories while out and about.
