PlexiDrone is a build-it-yourself drone
Drones are really taking off at the moment, if you’ll pardon the pun. This one is very portable, easy to assemble, and lets you take stunning aerial photos.
PlexiDrone is the drone for the rest of us.
There’s an unobstructed 360-degree camera view for amazing panoramic photos, and a retractable landing gear for touching down safely.
You can control it using any Bluetooth-enabled device – whether it runs iOS, Android or Windows – thanks to the PlexiHub. This increases the signal range and lets you control multiple PlexiDrones. Or if you prefer, you can use the dedicated apps for iOS and Android, or attach your own receiver and use a standard remote control.
It also features high-visibility LEDs, and voice audio alerts.
It’s super light too, tipping the scales at about the same weight as a MacBook Air.
You can add your own camera using the custom payloads. Clip in a GoPro, BublCam, LIDAR, thermal-imaging camera, or mini DSLR, and get snapping. Not sure which to use? Try more than one! The clip mechanism is open source, so you can download the schematics for free.
It will fly for between 15 and 35 minutes, and can zip along at a speedy 44mph.
It’s already doubled its funding goal, and there are still 37 days to go. Check out its Indiegogo page.
