Black Friday shoppers’ fervour to crack open their new games consoles may be causing the PlayStation Network to buckle.

The PSN is suffering issues on both the PS4 and the PS3 on one of the most popular console shopping days of the year.

Many users have taken to social media to voice their unhappiness at being unable to log on or access features from the online portion of the PlayStation experience on Friday.

The company says it is aware of the connectivity issues and is working on a fix.

In a post on the Ask PlayStation support account on Twitter, Sony confirmed: "We are aware that some users are having connectivity issues with PSN this morning. Thanks for your patience as we investigate."

Sony is still resolving the issues, according to posts on the firm’s Support page.
