Playstation 4.5 Neo release to launch before October, distributor claims

The rumoured Sony PlayStation 4.5 ‘Neo’ console will launch before October 2016, according to a French games distributor, which has since retracted its claim.

Innelec Multimedia had said the “evolution” of the PS4 console will arrive during the first half of the current financial year, which ends in March 2017 (via VideoGamer).

That would suggest a release prior to the end of September.

An original press release had claimed: “The 2016/2017 current year should be marked for the video game world by the arrival, in the first half of our fiscal year, an evolution of the Sony PS4 PS4 console with the Neo 4K with new features and that the placing on the market in October 2016 virtual reality helmet Sony VR.”

However, the French outfit has since gone back on its initial statement, claiming no knowledge of the Neo launch plans.

In a Google-translated statement posted on afjv.com, the company wrote: “Innelec denies any official information about the launch of a PS4K Neo.

“It is possible that during the 2016/2017 fiscal developments exist on the current PS4 [but] for the moment we have no information about the nature of them.”

The Sony PS4.5, internally codenamed Neo, is set to offer 4K graphics as well as improved innards, also geared towards handling PSVR content.

Recent reports have suggested all content designed for the Neo would be playable on the current console, albeit offering a lesser experience.
