Piranha Pit map now playable in Splatoon

Piranha Pit is yet another free map for Nintendo’s Splatoon, and it’s playable right now.

Nintendo has been supporting Splatoon with a variety of free updates since its release last May, with even more DLC on the way in 2016.

The Wii U exclusive shooter is still going strong, with a new map having just been added for free.

Piranha Pit is now a part of the standard map rotation, playable across both normal and ranked playlists.

The Piranha Pit map is expected to be one of the last major free updates for Splatoon, with smaller additions to come in 2016.

Speaking to Game Informer, Splatoon co-director Yusuke Amano said that Splatoon’s free DLC campaign will run until January 2016.

Nintendo has no plans to release paid DLC after this, and seem content with how the game has performed thus far.

Splatoon has sold 2.43 million units as of September 30 2015, cementing itself as one of the best selling games on the platform.

Judging by Splatoon’s surprise success, we may see a sequel in the future for the Nintendo NX.
