Got your hearts set on getting either an HTC One X or an HTC One S? Well it looks like Phones4U may be the place to get your pre-order in.
The phone flogging outfit has just announced it will be giving away free HTC Media Link HD DLNA media players with every pre-order. Worth £79.99, the little black box plugs into your TV's HDMI input and provides streaming video and music playback from your phone via its built in Wi-Fi connection.
Essentially it's a standard DLNA receiver, which is a common enough thing to have in modern TVs. However, it tends to only be the more expensive TVs that include Wi-Fi (cheaper ones just have Ethernet), and any TV older than two or three years probably won't have this feature at all.
It's compatible with the following codecs:
Video Codecs: H.264, VC-1, XviD, MPEG-1, MPEG-4, WMV, Divx
Audio Codecs: MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC, OGG Vorbis, supported via HDMI pass-through: AC-3, DTS, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio
Image Codecs: JPEG, BMP, PNG
Prices for the actual phones vary considerably depending on which network you choose and what monthly rate you choose but the ranges are along the lines of:
HTC One X: £179.99
up front on a 24month £20.50pm contract to £0 up front on a £36ppm 24month contract.
HTC One S: £99.99 up front on a 24month £20.50pm contract to £0 up front on a £31ppm 24 month contract.
