PES 2014 UK release date announced as September 20

Publisher Konami has officially announced the PES 2014 UK release date, with the eagerly awaited football sim to touch down on September 20 one week ahead of FIFA 14.

Beating its bitter rival to market, the formal PES 2014 release date has been confirmed during Gamescom 2013 with the upcoming football title to be made available for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms simultaneously. Undercutting EA, the FIFA 14 release date has already been confirmed for September 27 in the UK.

Having fallen behind its longstanding rival in recent years, Konami will be hoping the early PES 2014 release date will help the latest instalment of the much loved football franchise gain an edge over the new FIFA.

With EA yesterday confirming that a playable FIFA 14 demo will launch on September 10 for all current-gen consoles, Konami has revealed that it will split its PS3 and Xbox 360 demo launches.

With Sony’s gamer getting the nod, a PS3 PES 2014 demo will be released on September 11, one day before the playable football preview is made available to fans of the Xbox 360.

Although the exact contents of the demo have yet to be confirmed, Konami has revealed that the PES 2014 demo will allow gamers to play full matches as a variety of teams, as well as partake in a selection of tutorial modes.

Facing stiff competition, the new PES title is likely to be overshadowed by the large-scale reach of FIFA 14, a game Microsoft has revealed will be offered for free with all Xbox One pre-orders.

“All pre-order Xbox One consoles in launch countries in Europe (including the UK) this Christmas  will include a digital version of a blockbuster game, and the first of these bundles will be the best-selling sports franchise FIFA 14,” an official Microsoft spokesperson announced yesterday.
