Personalise the hell out of your lighting with Hive’s new Active Light bulbs

British Gas’ Hive spin-off has just announced two new Active Light bulbs to add to its smart lighting range.

The new additions add some serious customisation options to the Active Light lineup, and come in the form of the Cool to Warm White bulb and Colour Changing bulb.

Hive says the new products allow you to “manage every aspect of your lighting and create an ambience to match any mood or occasion”.

What does that mean in practice? Well, you’ll be able to use the bulbs to dim, programme, and change the colour of your lighting at home.

The announcement follows the launch of the Active Light bulb in June – an affordable smart bulb that could be controlled using a smartphone app.

But the new Cool to Warm White addition adds the ability to choose between a range of white shades, from warm white to daylight cool.

And when it comes to the Colour Changing bulb, there’s no points for guessing what the situation is here.

With the ability to change hues based on a full RGB and White colour spectrum, the Colour Changing option has been designed for those looking to get a bit more creative with their home lighting.

Kass Hussain, Director at Hive, said: “Since we launched Hive Active Light back in June, it’s been one of our most popular products.

“…our new bulbs are designed to help make any mood achievable and any awkwardly-placed lamp switch easily accessible from your phone.

“With the ability to trigger lights using our motion and contact sensors too, people can now effortlessly ensure that they have the right lighting at the right time.”

The Cool to Warm White bulb is available now for £29, while the Colour Changing offering is on sale for £44. There’s also the option of the original Active Light bulb for a very reasonable £19.
