Action camera manufacturer GoPro has announced owners of its latest Hero 4 camera can now live stream content directly to Periscope.
Those using Periscope for iPhone can now access their GoPro directly from the app, allowing them to keep their iPhone stowed when recording footage.
Once the action cam is paired to the iPhone, users will see the same ‘Start Broadcast’ button within Periscope but with the option to select the GoPro as the main camera.
Interestingly, it’ll also be possible to switch between the GoPro and the iPhone cameras mid-broadcast by double tapping the button.
One linked to the camera, the app also offers a new button to lock the phone screen to ensure the broadcast isn’t interrupted while the handset is sitting in your pocket.
On the official blog, the Tony Bates, the president of GoPro writes: “GoPro enables people to capture and share their experiences in the most immersive way possible, and the integration with Periscope provides GoPro users with a great, real-time platform to share their content.”
The inclusion of the most prominent live streaming platform offers a new lease of life to the GoPro platform.
Last summer it introduced compatibility with the rival Meerkat platform, also for iPhone users. Back in 2014 Livestream integration was added, again for iOS only.
Will the inclusion of the Twitter owned Periscope platform encourage you to to snap up a GoPro Hero 4? Or are you happy with using your iPhone camera to broadcast to the world?
