Paradise Bay is the new tropical island sim from Candy Crush studio

The makers of Candy Crush struck gold with the incredibly popular title, but what’s next for game studio King Digital Entertainment?

Turns out it’s a tropical island simulation game called Paradise Bay, which has just been announced amid the hype-fest that is Gamescom 2015.

Paradise Bay is launching on iOS today, and will be “coming to Android soon” – so stay tuned.

According to King, players will “embark on an exciting journey of exploration and discovery as they build and customise their very own tropical paradise.”

The aim of the game is to return the island to “its earlier days of flourish prosperity and booming business”.

King has opted for a cartoony art style, and fleshes out its tropical haven with a cast of colourful characters that includes the inimitable turtle, Skippy.

Players will be able to trade items with other players and dive with friends in their quest to transform their new home into a thriving port and market.

“We’re really excited to launch Paradise Bay, which is the first game to come out of our Seattle studio,” says Lou Fasulo, King’s Studio Head.

He adds: “It’s a new type of game for King, which offers immersive and strategic gameplay, allowing players to build their own trading port, uncover the mysteries of their island and interact with an array of fun and friendly characters. Paradise Bay offers players the ultimate escape.”

The app is available right now on iOS, and doesn’t cost a penny to download.
