Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 announced with 4k30fps shooting
Panasonic has launched a new mirrorless camera that’s good for shooting 4K footage.
It’s called the Panasonic DMC-G7 and, unsurprisingly, lands as a sequel to 2013’s DMC-G6.
The big selling point of the G7 is its ability to shoot video at a QFHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 30 frames per second.
What’s more, it also allows you to extract still shots from the footage, creating 8-megapixel snaps from your video.
There’s a bunch of 4K photo functions too, including 4K Burst Shooting, 4K Burst (Start/Stop), and 4K Pre-burst.
All this comes courtesy of a 16-megapixel sensor powered by a ‘new and improved’ Venus Engine that purportedly accurately reproduces every colour in every frame.
The Venue Engine image processor works with a quad-core CPU that allows for high-speed signal processing at 8 frames per second.
An improved noise reduction system allows the camera to now shoot at a maximum ISO of 25,600.

Panasonic also made some improvements to the Auto-Focus, speeding up the time it takes to focus in on a subject.
Additional features include time-lapse shooting, silent mode, a 3.5mm microphone, and an improved 360-degree panorama mode.
The interchangeable lens camera weighs a fairly light 410g – that’s body, battery, and SD card combined.
The G7 also has an OLED Live View Finder and a 3-inch 1040K-dot touchscreen display.
The Lumix G7 will be available to buy in the UK from mid-June this year, and will cost £599 for the body alone. A silver version will also be on offer exclusively at Jessops, albeit at a pricier £679.
