Our first look at Michael Fassbender in the Assassin’s creed movie

The first image of Michael Fassbender in costume for the Assassin’s Creed film adaptation has been released.

Michael Fassbender will play a character known as Callum Lynch in the upcoming big screen adaptation.

Originally posted by Yahoo, the image shows Fassbender as Lynch, a brand new assassin created specifically for the film.

The motion picture intends to introduce a selection of new characters to the existing game world, rather than recreating ones we already know.

Callum Lynch, much like the original Assassin’s Creed’s Desmond, is preparing to battle against the templar’s in the present day.

Lynch himself is an ascendant of Aguilar, a 15th century Spanish assassin whom he will presumably access via the animus, just like in the games.

Fassbender isn’t the only top tier actor bringing his skills to the film. Academy award winner Marion Cotillard (Inception, Dark Knight Rises) will also be starring.

The film will be directed by Justin Kurzel, famous for The Turning and the upcoming cinematic envisioning of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

According to Ubisoft, the Assassin’s Creed film officially entered production in February 2015, and is expected to hit cinemas on December 21, 2016.

When asked about the film, Fassbender said that the filmmakers wish to stay true to the source material, but also “want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own vision of things that already exist in the game.”

Michael Fassbender is a great actor, but will that be enough to end a particularly rubbish streak of game-to-film adaptations.

Away from the film world, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on October 23.

The PC version was recently delayed to November 19.
