has announced a partnership with music streaming service Deezer, which will see
some pay monthly customers getting access to 13 million songs while on the
move – for free.
In what will be seen as direct competition to Spotify, Some Orange customers on
pay monthly tariffs from today will get access as part of their package, to
Deezer Mobile with unlimited access to Deezer’s full music catalogue, ad-free.
The service will only be available to those on Orange’s Panther tariffs
which begin at £30-a-month.
French-based Deezer was launched in 2007 and currently
claims to have 20 million users of which 1.2 million are paying subscribers. It
offers a catalogue of 13 million songs from all the major labels.
Deezer will also be launching a separate standalone service
in the UK
which will cost £9.99 per month, called Deezer Premium . As well as getting
access to the 13 million tracks on your mobile or PC, you will be able to
access 30 radio channels in 12 music genres, 30,000 artist-based radio channels
and thousands of artists’ discographies, biographies and reviews.
