Onkyo has unveiled the T-4070, an AirPlay-enabled network tuner which it is aiming at the audiophiles out there.
The T-4070, which will go on sale in silver and black next month priced at £799, features a range of features as well as Apple’s wireless streaming solution, including DLNA connectivity, Spotify, FM and DAB radio.
If you’re Apple device does not support AirPlay, or indeed if you don’t own an iPod, iPhone or iPad, then you’ll be able to play your music by plugging your device into the USB port on the front.
Files supported include MP3, AAC, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV and Ogg Vorbis. There is also a DLNA 1.5-certified ethernet port to let you connect with the music library stored on your home PC or NAS box.
Subscription services available include Spotify, AUPEO!, and Last.fm while vTuner gives you access to hundreds of Internet radio stations. Old school radio listening is also catered for with both FM and DAB tuners having 40 presets each.
You can control the device using the supplied remote or with the new Onkyo Remote apps for iOS and Android devices.
Built around a “super-rigid anti-vibration chassis”, the unit includes separate Wolfson 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for each channel, DIDRC noise-reduction circuitry, plus gold-plated RCA, AES/EBU, and coaxial terminals.
