OnePlus Two delay rumours resurface, OnePlus One to blame

Rumours that the OnePlus 2 will be delayed have emerged again, although this time the OnePlus One could be to blame.

Back in January we heard that the next OnePlus smartphone might be ‘forced back’ into Q3 this year due to manufacturing issues with the Snapdragon 810 mobile chip.

The 810 is Qualcomm’s current flagship chipset, although it’s been criticised heavily over alleged overheating issues. Despite the concerns however, the chip has already appeared in a number of smartphones, including the LG G Flex 2.

Now, new comments from the CEO of OnePlus suggest that the upcoming smartphone sequel might land even later than Q3.

The OnePlus boss, speaking via Chinese social media site Weibo, claimed that the OnePlus One will still be popular for the second half of this year, as reported by GizmoChina.

This predicted success could be an incentive for OnePlus to avoid pushing out the next iteration of the device too soon.

The OnePlus One launched in June last year, so we’re just months away from the original device’s one-year anniversary.

The OnePlus One smartphone has been very successful considering it is the first and only OnePlus handset to date.

Naturally, the OnePlus One spec sheet is beginning to look out of date compared to new flagship smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9, so pushing a release date for the OnePlus Two beyond Q3 could be a big mistake.

So far, OnePlus has made no official comment regarding alleged OnePlus Two delays.
