OnePlus 6 ‘leaked’ image promises major design shift for 2018 flagship phone

The forthcoming OnePlus 6 will have a reflective glass back and an iPhone X style display notch, if photos leaked online this week prove to be the real deal.

Chinese site ITHome has published a pair of photos, claiming to be the next-gen OnePlus flagship, scheduled to be announced this summer.

This isn’t a source we’re overly familiar with, so we’re taking these images with a healthy punch of salt at present.

For what it’s worth, the front of the device maintains a near bezel-less display, but the notch enables more than two thirds of the screen to push to the top edge of the device.

The earpiece in this image is absolutely tiny an there only appears to be a single camera sensor within that notch.

The extra space afforded to the display houses the time, battery and signal indicators in the image shown below.

Given the OnePlus 6 is rumoured to house its own take on Face ID, the notch may have been necessary to house those extra sensors, but we’re not seeing an iPhone X-like array here.

The display itself also purportedly gives away some specs. The device baring the model number P7891, is apparently running Android Oreo 8.1.

It lists 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage. OnePlus 5T owners can currently benefit from up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, so we’d expect the follow up to match that.

Meanwhile, the rear of the device also showcases a potentially major design change. The glass rear casing would replace the metal back of the OnePlus 5T.

On the device shown, the dual camera array has moved to the centre of the device and is now vertically aligned, compared to the horizontal arrangement in the top left corner of the 5T.

The fingerprint sensor now looks oval shaped compared to the circular sensor on the OnePlus 5T.

We’re expecting the OnePlus 6 to retain the Full HD display, deploy the Snapdragon 845 processor, while the camera tech is also likely to be boosted.
