OnePlus 5T gets official launch date as New York event revealed
OnePlus has officially confirmed the launch date for its upcoming flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5T.
In a surprise announcement, OnePlus revealed that its next smartphone would be revealed on November 16 at 4pm (London time). The big debut will take place over in Brooklyn, New York, and will see this year’s OnePlus 5 replaced just five months after it first launch.
If you can’t make it to New York then fret not: OnePlus will actually be live-streaming the entire launch event. You’ll be able to catch up on the keynote – which is dubbed ‘A New View’ – through the company’s official website.

OnePlus has also confirmed sales details for the new phone; the company’s UK partner O2 will be offering exclusive pre-orders starting from 5:15pm GMT on November 16 online. You’ll also be able to pre-order the phone in-store from November 17.
But the handset isn’t scheduled to go on open sale until 2pm GMT on November 21, so that’s technically the official release date.
Speaking about the new phone, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said: “Our devices are always built together with you. We can’t wait to tell you all about the new features and improvements that we have been working on.”
It’s expected that the OnePlus 5T will be largely similar to the existing OnePlus 5, featuring the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip. However, it’s said that the new phone will feature an all-screen front design, mimicking what we’ve already seen from the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, LG V30 and iPhone X this year.
