OnePlus 3 rollout delayed in the UK – here’s why

UK customers eagerly awaiting their OnePlus 3 handsets are experiencing considerable delays. Here’s why.

The OnePlus 3 is one of the best smartphones of the year so far, with a mixture of solid performance and a bargain price.

One of the key boasts concerning the OnePlus 3 ahead of release had nothing to do with hardware or software, though. It was the fact that for the first time, OnePlus was launching a phone normally, without a laborious invite system.

The prospect of simply being able to order one of the best-value Android phones around from one of the hottest young brands sounds irresistible. Sadly, it may not be so simple.

UK OnePlus 3 customers are experiencing delays in getting their handsets. In a recent blog post, a OnePlus staff member has explained the hold-up.

The post admits that “the demand for the OnePlus 3 in the UK has been above and beyond what any of us expected initially.”

In addition, OnePlus claims that “there’s been something of a schedule misalignment between devices and accessories in the UK.”

It seems that customs issues have meant that accessories have been late arriving in the country. This has, in turn, delayed a lot of UK deliveries.

OnePlus has solved this by removing and refunding the cost of those delayed accessories alongside any priority shipping costs, as well as dispatching the OnePlus 3 handsets directly. It has also issued vouchers for £8 (€10) off the next order, and has “waived the minimum order to qualify for free shipping to those affected so that they can purchase cases and other items once we have them restocked.”

In addition, OnePlus also admits that it has experienced “slight output delays” from its factory, which has led to lengthening dispatch dates. Some people have been waiting for two weeks for their order, but OnePlus insists that it “should have all outstanding orders before today fulfilled and shipped by Thursday.”

Any UK customers affected by these factory delays will be receiving a voucher for £16 / €20, and will have no minimum order to qualify for free shopping on their next purchase.
