The OnePlus invitation system is one of the most frustrating retail mechanisms technology has ever known – but no more!
OnePlus has finally opted to shutter the purchase invitation system for the OnePlus 2.
Starting on December 17, would-be customers will never again require an invite to buy the OnePlus flagship smartphone.
According to OnePlus, the move is in celebration of the fledgling company’s second anniversary.
“Over the past two years, we’ve worked hard to make changes that improve the total experience for our fans,” OnePlus spokesperson Eric Zarshenas tells TrustedReviews.
Zarshenas continues: “We recently hosted an open sale for the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X from Black Friday to Cyber Monday, and now we’re taking things even further.”
OnePlus also announced that the OnePlus X will be invite-free between December 5-7.
After that, the OnePlus X will be available for purchase without an invite during open sales sessions held once a week.

Invitations have been a consistent pain point for fans of the OnePlus brand, with many customers unable to buy a OnePlus smartphone despite being willing to make the purchase.
The invitation system has been a part of OnePlus' marketing strategy since the launch of the company's very first smartphone – last year's OnePlus One.
