The OnePlus 2 might wear a full-metal jacket

We’re just weeks away from learning what OnePlus has in store for its next flagship smartphone.

Fortunately, we may have just been given a glimpse of what’s to come, courtesy of a post to Chinese social media site Weibo.

The post in question contains an image that appears to be a OnePlus-branded smartphone – the OnePlus 2, one might guess.

What’s interesting about the render is that, seemingly, it shows a device with an all-metal casing, which is a stark contrast to the plasticky OnePlus One.

The mystery device looks like a cross between an iPhone 6 and the HTC One M9, so OnePlus might be vying for a premium feel this time around.

Of course, it’s impossible to verify the validity of the image at this stage, so we can’t say for sure whether the OnePlus 2 really will come clad in a full-metal jacket.

Thankfully, we haven’t got long to wait to find out, as OnePlus has pencilled in its grand OnePlus 2 unveiling for July 27.

It won’t be just any old launch event either; OnePlus is planning to broadcast the entire shebang in glorious 360-degree virtual reality.

The company has even been handing out free Google Cardboard headsets so fans of the brand can enjoy the show. There’s no stock left now though, unsurprisingly.

We’ve already been told that the OnePlus 2 will feature a fingerprint scanner and a USB-C port, as well as a reworked Snapdragon 810 chip.

Everything else is anyone’s guess however, so we’ll just have to sit tight for now and await July 27.
