Olympus VH-520 launched as 14-megapixel compact

Olympus has launched the Olympus VH-520 compact camera, complete with 14-megapixel and TruePic V image processor.

The 10X optical zoom compact camera is being aimed at consumers wishing to have DSLR features within a travel-friendly body and an affordable price range.

Olympus VH-520 Features

The latest model in Olympus’ range of compact cameras, the Olympus VH-520 packs semi-professional photography innards that make it capable of producing high-quality low-light shots.

The Olympus VH-520 features iHS technology normally found in more expensive DSLR models and offers an ISO range of up to 6400 and HDR backlighting for quality imaging even in poor lighting conditions.

Bolstered by a 14-megapixel CMOS image sensor and a TruePic V processor usually found in Olympus’ DSLR cameras,  the Olympus VH-520 also packs a 26mm-260mm wide 10X optical zoom lens, offering up to 20X zoom with the Super Resolution Zoom function. This means the compact camera is suitable for taking wide landscape shots or close-up portraits within a travel-friendly design.

The camera also offers Full 1080p HD video recording with in-built High Speed Movie Recording capabilities at 240 or 120fps for slo-mo playback and Multi-Motion Movie Image Stabilisation for reduced blur when on the move.

Users can also apply some of the Olympus Magic Filters via the 3-inch LCD screen and can guarantee crisp, clear images due to the Olympus VH-520’s lens-shift image stabilisation.

Olympus VH-520 Release Date and Price

With an Olympus VH-520 release date set for late April, the compact camera will be available in six colour variations: blue, purple, red, white, black and brown. It will go on sale sporting a price tag of £129.99.
