Ollinfit is a wearable personal trainer

How do you make sure you’re working out correctly? You could pay a pricey personal trainer to advise you. Or you could buy Ollinfit.

It’s a set of three wearable sensors that talk to a smartphone app to improve your workouts. You wear the sensors strategically depending on what exercise you’re doing – in the above picture, just out of shot, the woman is wearing one on her thigh as well as on her wrist, for example. They then capture your full range of motion and send that data to the app.

The app analyses the data in real-time and gives you feedback, both by speaking advice, and vibrating the sensors to get your attention.

Swing your hips while doing bicep curls, for example, and the app will say “Stand still don’t swing”. On a rowing machine, it’ll give you a tip before you start: “Keeping your back vertically straight helps prevent back injury”.

The sensors buzz so you know which one it’s referring to, and how to change your posture.

It’ll advise on how heavy the weight is you should be lifting. Based on how you move, it’ll tell you to increase or decrease the weight for your next set. If your posture is poor, chances are the weight is too heavy, for example.

The app also contains some personal training programs for you to follow.

It’s just hit Kickstarter, and needs to raise $60,000 in 44 days. The early bird costs $131 (£86). If successful it will ship in May.
