Official Star Wars bluetooth speakers hit Kickstarter

And you thought you’d seen all the Star Wars merchandise there was.

These awesome bluetooth speakers have just hit Kickstarter. They’re official Star Wars merch, made by AC Worldwide. And as you can see, they come in two versions: one resembling R2D2’s sidekick C-3PO, and one resembling a stormtrooper.

They’re officially certified by Lucasfilm and Disney, and display an impressive attention to detail. They even include the vents and grills that were just stickers on the original costumes.

As ever, it all happens behind the eyes. In this case, that involves two tweeters and a down-facing subwoofer to give plenty of bass. In other words, each is a full 2.1 system.

You fire tunes to them over bluetooth using your smartphone or tablet. Once you pair, each speaker says an iconic phrase from the films. C-3PO says: “I do believe they think I’m some sort of god,” while the stormtrooper says: “Move along”. The eyes also glow blue.

They also have NFC, so you can pair just by tapping your mobile device against them. Or you can do it the old fashioned way, and connect using an aux cable.

Best of all, they double as speakerphones. So next time your mum calls, it’ll be like she’s joined the dark side while she asks you what you’re having for tea.

Each can be yours for £99 if you get in quick and nab the early bird. Pay £499, and you’ll get a collectible 1-10 serial numbered editions.
