Oculus Rift pre-orders start on January 6

OculusVR has confirmed that Oculus Rift pre-orders will start on January 6.

Although details are fairly scant at this stage, at least we now know that you’ll be able to secure yourself an Oculus Rift from this Wednesday.

“Today, we’re excited to announce that pre-orders for Rift will open on Oculus.com at 8am Pacific Time on January 6! We’ll be sharing everything you need to know to order your Rift on Wednesday when pre-orders go live,” explained a new OculusVR blog post.

That means pre-orders for the Oculus Rift will go live at 4pm UK time.

Of course, we’re hoping those details include the price of the Oculus Rift, which has still yet to be announced.

We’re also keen to know if OculusVR will announce a release date for the virtual reality headset, which is still set for a loose “Q1 2016”.

However, what we do know is that you’ll get two games bundled with your pre-order of the Oculus Rift. And what’s nice is that they occupy two ends of the VR game spectrum.

The first is the spaceship-bound FPS Eve Valkyrie from the guys over at CCP. Or there’s the colourful and family friendly platformer Lucky’s Tale from Playful.

“This is going to be an exciting week for VR, so Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will be answering all your questions during a Reddit AMA this Wednesday, January 6.”

This Reddit AMA will start at 6pm Pacific Time, which equates to the rather unfriendly 2am on January 7 for us UK VR lovers.

“Stay tuned for more updates this week. We can’t wait to share what’s coming next.”
