Nvidia Shield Tablet?

A press render of the Nvidia Shield tablet has leaked online, revealing the design ahead of an official launch.

Rumours around an Nvidia Shield successor coming in the form of a dedicated gaming tablet have been doing the rounds for a while, but now we’re getting our first real look at the Shield Tablet.

Thanks to notoriously reliable tech tipster @evleaks, who tweeted a press render of the tablet, we can see some of the features of the Nvidia Shield Tablet.

We’re going to get a pair of dual front-facing cameras lining the top and bottom of the slate, in the style of the HTC One M8.

There’s also a front-facing camera at the top of the Shield Tablet, although we have no leaked information as to what the resolution will be.

The UI looks very similar to the Nvidia powered, Advent Vega Tegra Note 7, but it’s interesting to see PC games listed as an option in the app store.

Rumours has it that the Nvidia Shield Tablet will come with a 7.9-inch display running on a Tegra K1 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. The Nvidia Tegra 4 processor paired with 1GB of RAM in the Note 7 excelled in mobile gaming performance, offering impressive benchmarks to complement its gaming prowess.

Other reports suggest the Nvidia Shield Tablet will be kitted out with Unreal Engine 4 technology, for even better mobile gaming.

There has been talk of Nvidia launching a separate gaming controller for the Shield Tablet, which looks and functions in a very similar way to the original Shield.
