Nvidia Grid game streaming service arriving in December

Nvidia Grid has been announced as a brand new on-demand game streaming service.

The Nvidia Grid service will launch on November 18 in the US, but will arrive in Europe at some point in December.

The new service will eventually allow users to stream games directly to their PC, Mac, tablet, smart phone or supported Smart TV.

However, to begin with the service will be launched as a preview. Nvidia Shield and Nvidia Shield Tablet owners will be able to take advantage of Nvidia Grid first.

And they’ll be able to use it for free until June 30 2015.

At launch, Nvidia Grid will be home to over 20 well-known console titles, including the likes of Batman: Arkham City and Borderlands 2. You’ll also spot slightly older titles like Brutal Legend or Psychonauts.

Nvidia claims the plan is to add new games every week, meaning the PlayStation Now rival should grow in size pretty rapidly.

To celebrate the Nvidia Grid announcement, a limited edition Green Box bundle is being launched in conjunction with Valve. A Tegra optimised version of Half Life 2: Episode One for the Nvidia Shield Tablet comes with Half Life 2 and Portal for the Green Box.

There is no pricing information for Nvidia Grid beyond this preview period, but if and when we get more details, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

The Nvidia Shield features an 8-inch 1920 x 1200p full HD display running on the 2.2GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 processor with 2GB of RAM.

Prices start at £239 for the 16GB version, or you can pick it up for £299 with 32GB of internal storage and 4G LTE connectivity. There is microSD card support for memory expanding options though.
