Is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 a Batmobile/DeLorean love child?

Alleged pictures of the as-yet-unannounced GTX 1080 already appear to be doing the rounds.

The image leaked on Tuesday, appears to show the GeForce GTX 1080 cooler shroud, which looks a little bit like DeLorean and a Batmobile had a baby, has emerged via a Chinese web forum.

As per an Overclock3D report, the GPU cooler design is due an upgrade as it hasn’t changed since Nvidia launched the GTX Titan three years ago.

Despite what we think appears to be a nice design, commenters on the original report don’t agree.

One declared it an “80s abortion” compared with the original Titan style, while another claimed it was “too blingy" before adding “slick designs are what its all about.”

Of course, the design will only go so far. The GeForce GTX 1080 is expected to contain the Pascal CP104 GPU and 8GB of GDDR5 memory.

There’s no news yet on when Nvidia plans to launch the new range.

"The ink is barely dry on our review of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980..."

Because you were 18 months late with it.

I don't have a windowed case so I really don't care what it looks like. The cooler on my 980 keeps it cool and is almost silent; can't ask for more.

Fair point! We have a new Computing Editor, Michael Passingham, who will ensure we're more up-to-date in future.

Who gives a shit what the card looks like. If you are worried about the looks of the inside of your pc, you need to get a life, seriously.

Good stuff. It did seem odd to see a review of something I bought in 2014.

Might he venture into HTPC-related matters? It's a huge area with a lot of confusion and misinformation. Seems a good fit for you guys with your mix of PC and AV tech.

Does it improve the cooler's function (overall attributes)? Yes? Then go for it. I don't care what a cooler on a card looks like, I care that it does its job without sounding like a hair dryer.

Does it worsen the cooler's function? Yes? Why are you doing this Nvidia, stahp.

If you were a true PC Gamer enthusiast you wouldn't be saying that.

It's hardly an ugly card though. I think it looks cool how it's a phucked up version of their current ref design (I have it on my GTX780). It kinda looks polygonal, intentionally.

It's not a huge issue for a water cooling enthusiast as they'll put something classy on anyhow :)
