Now you can help Leo win his first Oscar from your web browser
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade, or have never met one of the many internet memes made in honour of the matter, you’ll probably know about Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar drought.
Poor Leo has been overlooked time and time again, despite numerous nominations. However, thanks to the annual photos showcasing him drowning his sorrows on a yacht surrounded by supermodels, our sympathy soon ebbs away.
Old Leo is actually the favourite to break his duck on 28 February, as he’s been nominated once again for his role as a really cold guy in The Revenant.
You can now take it upon yourself to help Leo across the line with the help of a free 16-bit game called Leo’s Red Carpet Rampage, which can be played in your web browser.
The game requires you to run the red carpet in chase of the golden statuette, outrunning fellow nominees, jumping over cameramen (and Lady Gaga) while collecting numerous other gongs such as SAG Awards and BAFTAs.
At the end of each level you’ll take part in a bonus round that prompts you to “Act Harder”, crawl back to the car following a ludes overdose, write an acceptance speech or find the black nominee.
“
“Collect as many Emmys and Golden Globes as you can along the way. But beware of pushy photographers and watch out for Lady Gaga… and Icebergs.”
Beware though; just like in real life, gaining an Oscar for Leo is actually harder than you’d think.
