Things haven’t been going great for Samsung, what with its latest phablet offering, the Note 7, exploding and all.
The fallout hasn’t quite finished yet either, with some analysts projecting the resulting global recall is likely to cost the company more than $1 billion.
And while the financial loss is going to hit the company hard, one thing Samsung definitely doesn’t want is any more phones exploding.

Which is why it issued a software update that keeps the Note 7’s battery from charging to 100%, thereby minimising the risk of the device catching fire until a replacement can be issued.
The update itself forces the battery to stop charging once it hits 60%, but the guys over at SamMobile have noticed a way to increase that figure to 80%.
According to the report, turning off the ‘Limit maximum charge to 60%’ toggle in the handset’s Advanced Settings will allow the Note 7 to add an extra 20% to its maximum charge.
However, seeing as the limit was introduced to prevent the phones combusting, it’s highly inadvisable to switch this setting off.
Samsung recommends using Power Saving mode if you need to squeeze some extra life out of your handset.
Of course, the sensible thing to do is to take your phone back to the place you got it and exchange it for a safe unit as soon as possible.
