The Nokia Lumia 720 has been officially unveiled at MWC 2013, with the Windows Phone 8 handset landing with a 4.3-inch display and mid-range specs.

Sibling to the current Nokia Lumia 920, 820 and 620, the newly unveiled Nokia Lumia 720 will target the mid-market price points, with the unibody device launching alongside the entry-level 4-inch Nokia Lumia 520.

“The Nokia Lumia 720 is manufactured for none LTE markets,” Nokia’s Head of Design Marko Ahtisaari said in unveiling the device at MWC 2013. “The real surprise in this mid-range camera is its camera. It comes with Carl Zeiss optics with an f\1.9 aperture.”

Further discussing the Nokia Lumia 720 spec and how it lines up compared to its more expensive high-end sibling, Ahtisaari added: “The Nokia Lumia 720 has the same battery as the Nokia Lumia 920 and is wireless charging compatible.”

Nokia Lumia 720 Features
Measuring in at just 9mm thick and 128g in weight, the Nokia Lumia 720 plays host to a 4.3-inch 800 x 480p WVGA screen, with the touchscreen display featuring a Corning Gorilla Glass protective coating and a 217 pixels-per-inch image density.

With a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor running the show, the Nokia Lumia 720 specs sheet is further bolstered by 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, expandable up to 64GB of storage space via microSD card.

Making up for a lack of LTE 4G connectivity options with the usual collection of Bluetooth, 3G and Wi-Fi, as well as NFC technology integrated, the Nokia Lumia 720 plays host to a 2000mAh battery, tipped to offer up to 13.4 hours of talk time.

With the Nokia Lumia 720 camera collection seeing front and back mounted snappers feature, a 6.7-megapixel rear-mounted camera lines up with 4x digital zoom, auto focus and an integrated LED flash in tow. A second, front-facing snapper also features alongside 720p HD video recording capabilities.

Nokia Lumia 720 Release Date and Price
According to Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, the “Nokia 720 will start rolling out in Asian in Q1 before rolling out across Europe in Q2” meaning a Nokia Lumia 720 UK release date is still some weeks away.

As well as offering launch details on the new Windows Phone 8 handset, Elop revealed that a Nokia Lumia 720 price tag will see the handset hit retailers priced 249 euros (£217) prior to taxes and carrier charges.
