Nokia Lumia 620 officially unveiled as value Windows Phone 8 handset

Nokia has officially unveiled the Nokia Lumia 620, the third handset in its latest range of Windows Phone 8 powered smartphones.

Targeting a more budget, entry-level market that the likes of its flagship Nokia Lumia 920 sibling, the new 3.8-inch Nokia Lumia 620 boasts an affordable price tag alongside a reasonable collection of consumer appeasing specs that includes a dual-core CPU.

"We continue to execute on our strategy to reach new audiences and new markets," said Jo Harlow, executive vice president, Nokia Smart Devices. "With its innovative design, the latest Windows Phone 8 software and signature experiences from Nokia, like Nokia lenses, Nokia Maps and Nokia Music, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a highly competitive smartphone at this price point."

Far from the most ground-breaking device on the market, the Nokia Lumia 620 lines up with a 3.8-inch TFT WVGA ClearBlack display that hosts an 800 x 480p image resolution. On top of this, a zippy 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor partners with the Windows Phone 8 OS to run the show.

With a 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera being partnered with autofocus capabilities and an integrated LED flash, the Nokia Lumia 620 features list is further bolstered by a second VGA snapper on the front, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage that is expandable via microSD.

Set to touch down in the coming months, although Nokia has failed to confirm a precise Nokia Lumia 620 UK release date, the Finnish phone manufacturer has revealed that the handset will “begin selling in January 2013 in Asia, followed closely by Europe and the Middle East before expanding further.”

Again, a confirmed Nokia Lumia 620 UK price tag has yet to be announced although the company revealed that the device will set wannabe owners back around $249 (£155) before taxes.
