Nokia Lumia 520 now available in the UK

The Nokia Lumia 520 is now available to buy in the UK, offering up the most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone yet.

The Nokia Lumia 520 props up the rest of the Nokia Lumia with Windows Phone 8 range, but that’s not to say that it’s particularly lacking in the spec department. Indeed, for the money this looks to represent an impressive device.

Nokia Lumia 520 Features.
The Nokia Lumia 520 comes with a 4-inch 800 x 480 LCD display, which you might think is pretty standard for a budget smartphone. However, it also features Nokia’s unique super-sensitive screen technology, which enables you to use it with your gloves on.

Inside the Nokia Lumia 520’s colourful plastic shell you’ll find a capable 1GHz dual-core CPU backed by 512MB of RAM. You’ll also get 8GB of internal storage, though this can be expanded using the microSD slot.

Around back there’s a 5-megapixel camera, but the true benefit here is Nokia’s custom camera software, which includes ‘digital lenses’ (filters to you and I) and a ‘Smart Shoot’ burst mode.

Nokia Lumia 520 Pricing
The real talking point with the Nokia Lumia 520 is its price. Right now you can get this capable Windows Phone 8 device for just £99.95 (plus a £10 top-up) on PAYG over at Carphone Warehouse.

If you want it on contract, meanwhile, the same source will provide the Nokia Lumia 520 for free on a £7 a month T-Mobile deal. This only gives you 50 minutes, 250 texts and no data, but for £8.50 a month you can get 150 minutes, 5000 texts and 250MB of data through Carphone Warehouse’s own Talkmobile.
