Nokia Lumia 1520 launch confirmed for October 22

Nokia has confirmed an October 22 launch date for its Lumia 1520 smartphone with a new save the date invitation.

Originally planned for a September unveiling, Nokia has opted to wait until October 22 to launch its 6-inch Lumia 1520.

The Finnish smartphone manufacturer has posted a save the date notification on the official Nokia Twitter feed, adorned with the hash tags #blazing #stories and #innovationreinvented.

“At Nokia, we never stop innovating. More to share on October 22 #Nokia #innovationreinvented”, reads the save the date tweet.

The invitation for the Nokia Lumia 1020 bore a tagline of “Zoom Reinvented”, so it will be interesting to see what the stand-out features of the Lumia 1520 will be.

The original September Lumia 1520 launch was meant to be in New York, but by the looks of the sand dunes on the e-vite, the event will take place in a more exotic location.

In fact, some of the commenters on the save the date post are suggesting the event will be held in Abu Dhabi.

Sources close to Nokia have already confirmed the event won’t take place in the US anyway, so we’ll just have to wait for more information on a time and location for the Lumia 1520 unveiling.

Although there hasn’t been a wealth of specs leaks for the Nokia Lumia 1520, the smartphone is expected to have a 6-inch Full 1080p HD display that is jam-packed full of Windows Phone Live Tiles.

Previously leaked Nokia Lumia 1520 press shots showed the smartphone would lack the 41-megapixel snapper of the Lumia 1020 but may feature the same sensor as the Nokia Lumia 925.

Unlike the metal bodied Lumia 925 though, it seems the Lumia 1520 will have the same vibrantly hued polycarbonate body as the Nokia Lumia 920 for example.
