Nokia has announced three new smartphones which will run on the latest version of the Symbian OS (called Belle) and continue the newly revised naming convention we saw started with the Nokia 500

Nokia 600

Nokia's first new smartphone is the 600 which is pitched as the company's “loudest smartphone” – a claim which will strike fear into the hearts of many commuters – with Nokia promising 106 Phons - which is equal to 106 decibels at 1kHz.

The phone is powered by a 1GHz processor and comes with 2GB of storage expandable via microSD card slot to 32GB. The 3.2in capacitive touchscreen is of the TFT variety and has a resolution of 640 x 360.

The 600 measures 111 x 53 x 13-14.2mm and weighs in at a light 100g. It has Bluetooth 3.0, microUSB port, a 1200mAh battery, a 5 megapixel camera, a built-in FM radio antenna and transmitter, WiFi, accelerometer, compass, as well as proximity and ambient light sensor.

According to Nokia this is the perfect smartphone to “get the party started” with partying due to start some time in Q3 of this year. No word on pricing or carriers yet.

Nokia 700

Moving on to the 700, this phone is being pitched as Nokia’s smallest smartphone at only 50 cubic centimetres and weighing only 96g. Not only is it Nokia’s smallest smartphone, but is the “world’s smallest monoblock smartphone.”

As with all these new phones, the 700 has NFC single-tap capability, is powered by a 1GHz and features a 3.2in AMOLED screen with Nokia’s ClearBlack display.

The 700 has 2GB of internal memory, a 1080mAh battery, Bluetooth 3.0, micro USB connector as well as ambient light and proximity sensors. It has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, full focus and face recognition software.

Again we expect to see the 700 landing in Q3 and are waiting to hear back from Nokia regarding pricing.

Nokia 701

Finally from Nokia today is the brightest star in its smartphone arsenal – literally. The 701 possesses the “world's brightest ever mobile phone display”, based on a 3.5in ClearBlack display that makes it “perfect for indoor and outdoor use.”

As well as a crystal clear display, Nokia is promising crystal clear sound thanks to some active noise cancelling technology. The phone’s design is clearly based on the C7  - which isn’t a bad thing at all.

The phone has an 8 megapixel camera, 1GHz processor, and NFC capability like its new siblings. It also possesses a front-facing camera and HD video capture capability. It has a generous 8GB of internal storage with the possibility to increase this to a whopping 40GB via a 32GB microSD card.

The 701 will be arriving in Q3 along with its new siblings.

Nokia seems to be putting a lot of effort into launching phones with the Symbian OS despite putting all its eggs in the Windows Phone basket earlier this year. Then again we guess it wants to see some return for the billions it spent in recent years on R&D.
