Nokia 1020 release date announced, coming to UK September 12

Nokia has officially announced the Nokia Lumia 1020 release date, with the 41-megapixel camera smartphone landing in the UK on September 12.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 release date was confirmed as September 12 via a tweet on the official Nokia UK Twitter feed.

The tweet is brief but straight to the point: “#Lumia1020 UK = this Thursday.”

Nokia failed to provide any further details about the pricing or network availability for its camera centric smartphone, even when asked directly by excited Twitter users.

“You’ll know all about the what/when/where on Thursday,” the reply came. Nokia later added “all the details will come through on Thursday”, which isn’t a very useful answer for consumers eager to get their hands on the smartphone.

We’ll keep you posted on any further Nokia Lumia 1020 availability details as soon as we have them.

Nokia Lumia 1020 Features
The Nokia Lumia 1020 packs a 41-megapixel sensor camera with Carl Zeiss technology that uses oversampling to allow users to zoom into specific details on images they’ve taken. They can then adjust the focus of said image, without impairing the quality of the image whatsoever.

It also comes with second-generation optical image stabilisation to help combat natural wobbles and shakes when taking pictures.

Running Windows Phone 8, the Lumia 1020 has a 4.5-inch 1280 x 768p resolution AMOLED screen but only has a 2000mAh battery to power it. This can be expanded via the Nokia Camera Grip accessory that snaps onto the phone to give easy access to camera features but also an additional 1,200mAh battery too.

Under the hood is a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 comes in yellow, black and white and all of those are made with a special material that stops any colour fade.
