No pink iPhone 6S after all, report claims

iPhone 6S pink

The iPhone rumour season is in full swing, and one of the more prominent leaks has been regarding a claimed pink Apple handset.

Unfortunately for fans of salmon-tinted gadgets, it seems there might not be a pink iPhone 6S in the works after all.

That’s according to a blog post on Chinese social media site Weibo (via BGR) – now removed – that purported to have insider information from within network provider China Telecom.

Apparently the pink iPhone, which would more likely be called ‘Rose Gold’ upon release, is just an elaborate hoax.

Rumours of the soft-hued handset were borne off the back of a series of images leaked to the web earlier this month, which purported to show off the new colour variant from various angles.

The post went on to ‘confirm’ a number of other details about the iPhone 6S.

For instance, it claims the handset will use a 64-bit A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, a Force Touch display, and the oft-rumoured 12MP camera.

There were no details about the memory capacity of the iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus, so we’ve still got no idea whether the 16GB entry-level model will finally be abandoned.

Apple is expected to unveil both new handsets at a special event on September 9.

The event, which is yet to be confirmed by Apple, is going to be held at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, according to some speculation.

There’s been talk that a third handset – the iPhone 6C – will also turn up at the event, although reports on the device.
