Apple has agreed a deal to bring its fledgling Apple Pay mobile payments platform to over 200,000 self-service payment machines in the United States.
It’ll also enable them to flash their iOS device at the laundry or at parking meters rather than turn out their pockets and handbags for loose change.
The roll out, SlashGear reports, will come nationwide across the United States throughout 2015, according to USA and the announcement is great news for Apple as it attempts to boost Apple Pay adoption early on in its lifespan.
Despite snapping up all of the major financial institutions and several high profile stores, Apple is yet to become a hit with consumers and the wider retail community.
iPhone users are still relying on traditional payment methods, with many unsure how to use the tech, forgetting to use it, or unaware where retailers are using it.
Meanwhile, the opportunity to integrate the tech in placers users traditionally struggle to pay when they don’t have cash on them, might be just the boost the platform needs.
If iPhone users can find the tech truly useful when parking their car rather than slightly more convenient when doing their weekly shop, then perhaps usage habits will be sparked?
