‘No Man’s Sky was a mistake’ – angry ex-employee tweets from Hello Games account

Hello Games, developer of No Man’s Sky, hadn’t tweeted until September 23. That was until today, when a tweet was posted simply stating “No Man’s Sky was a mistake”, leading the internet to nearly burst into flames.

The tweet was swiftly removed and Hello games’ account was switched to private. However Forbes was able to take a screengrab before it got removed:

Forbes also reached out to Hello Games to see if it could confirm the source of the slightly embarrassing message, to which the company confirmed it was indeed hacked by a disgruntled ex-employee who had posted the tweet.

Sean Murray also clarified what happened with this tweet:

He then followed this message up with another gem:

No Man’s Sky was a highly ambitious title that unfortunately failed to deliver on the lofty hype it generated ahead of launch. What proved even more damning for Hello Games was the incredibly negative reaction the game received from fans who felt ‘cheated’ by the product’s marketing. Talk of absent features and downgrades soon swarmed the internet once the game was available in stores.

Ever since launch Hello Games has remained very quiet, which makes sense considering the some of the horrific messages ‘fans’ have been posting on the internet. This latest incident is just another sad turn for what was an huge project for the small team.
