Apple will not unveil a new 4-inch iPhone 6C as its forthcoming launch event on September 9.
In line with other recent rumours, 9to5Mac sources say a new 4-inch phone is in the works but will not be ready to ship by the time Apple takes the stage next month.
Apparently the firm had built prototypes of a 3.5-inch version also, but there are no plans to bring it to market, according to the report.
While the iPhone 6C is unlikely to arrive on September 9, its colourful predecessor predecessor, the iPhone 5C is likely to be laid to rest. According to the report, 2013’s largely unloved handset will be discontinued following the event.

Meanwhile the iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are likely to remain part of Apple’s iPhone line-up. The 5S will become even free on contract in the United States, the sources say.
Apple is expected to announce two new phones next month, with the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus expected to debut with new A9 processors, Force Touch-enabled displays and improved 12-megapixel cameras.
