Nintendo has been advertising for a new console architect in a selection of online job listings.
Nintendo has issued several online job listings for a new console architect that could suggest it is in the throws of starting to build its next new console.
For the past two months, Nintendo has been putting out its feelers for a US based hardware architect to build it’s new console.
In August, Nintendo pushed out a LinkedIn vacancy for a Lead Graphics Architect: a job which responsibilities would include “devising strategies” for “future Nintendo gaming platforms”.
Perhaps thanks to a lack of applicants, Nintendo then republished the job application on the recruitment website Taleo.
Although these job listings (both of which have now been removed) aren’t indicative of an imminent new console launch, they may well be signs that Nintendo is at the start of the process.
The job listing suggested that Nintendo is specifically looking for a lead graphics architect to help build an integrate SoC architecture, showing that Nintendo is looking at creating a new console.
“The candidate is expected to have good architectural insights and the ability to apply that for future graphics direction for Nintendo”.
Some 32 months ahead of the Xbox One launch, Microsoft starting advertising for an Xbox hardware architect to work on the company’s next console.
Prior to E3 2014, there were rumours that Nintendo would launch a brand new console – perhaps even a more affordable console for emerging markets. However, Nintendo subsequently publicly denied any plans for a new console launch, instead using the annual gaming event to launch a slew of new games.
