Nintendo is giving away a Nintendo NX, despite having not even announced the codenamed console yet.
The Japanese gaming giant has teamed up with ESL, the Electronic Sports League, for a surprise Nintendo NX giveaway. To win, you’ll need to take part in ESL’s Go4Splatoon tournament, a season of matches that will run over six months. The matches will come to a close in March 2017 and will be followed by a grand final, with the ultimate prize being the Nintendo NX.
It’s worth noting that if you win the tournament, you won’t actually be getting a Nintendo NX earlier than release. The mystery console’s launch is expected to take place in March 2017 too, so you’ll receive it at the same time as the common-folk.

In early 2015, Nintendo confirmed that it had a new console in the works that was being developed under the codename ‘NX’. It’s still not exactly clear what that entails, but rumours suggest that it will launch with a number of high-profile games from franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon.
It’s expected that the Nintendo NX will be a portable device with detachable controllers, and could run on cartridge-based games, as detailed in a recent Eurogamer report.
