Nintendo 2DS pre-orders have kicked off in the UK less than a day after the new handheld console was formally unveiled in all its dual-screen hosting glory.
An unusual and unexpected spinoff to the ailing Nintendo 3DS, the newly announced Nintendo 2DS can be pre-ordered now ahead of its formal launch later this year. Announced yesterday, August 28, the 2DS came as something of a surprise, with many still attempting to see the reasoning behind the console.
Dropping the extra-dimensional capabilities of its predecessor, a Nintendo 2DS UK release date has been set for October 12 with the likes of retailer GAME having already opened its Nintendo 2DS pre-order for those extremely eager gamers. The gamer will play nice with 3DS games just without the 3D elements.
With the Nintendo 2DS price officially unveiled as a penny shy of £110, the Japanese gaming giant yesterday confirmed that the PS Vita rival of sorts would sport two screens like the 3DS but no hinged centre, giving it a large, flat, wedge of cheese styled form factor.
Targeting the pre-teen gaming market more than the Xbox One and PS4 desiring hardcore gamers, the Nintendo 2DS will feature all the same controls as its 3D sibling.
Set to be made available in two colour schemes, blue/black and red/white, the Nintendo 2DS can also be paired with a padded carry case.
The foam lined accessory, available in similar colour schemes, is also available for pre-order now priced just £9.99.
Having unveiled its latest gamer, Nintendo also announced new Nintendo Wii U price cuts, with the little adopted console now £30 cheaper.
