Nikon has officially launched a new high-end DSLR, with the Nikon D7100 unveiled as a 24.1-megapixel enthusiast-level device with price tag topping the £1,000 marker.

With the camera’s 24.1-megapixel stills capabilities paired with Full HD 1080p video recording, the Nikon D7100 plays host to a lightweight yet durable body alongside a 51-point autofocus systems and an ISO setting expandable to 25600.

“The Nikon D7100 is a highly versatile digital SLR camera that offers a powerful set of features, expanding the horizons of the DX-format range,” Simon Iddon, Product Manager of Nikon UK’s Consumer DSLR arm said.

Speaking on the launch of the company’s latest DSLR offering, Iddon added: ”Whether you shoot landscapes, nature or wildlife images, or if you are a keen traveller, then the new Nikon D7100 is designed for you. Housed in a durable weather-resistant body, photographers can now enjoy extraordinary performance and high quality results in a portable camera they can take anywhere.”

Nikon D7100 Features

With a 24.1-megapixel DX format CMOS sensor leading the Nikon D7100 specs sheet, the camera specialist has confirmed that its new DSLR will play host to an EXPEED 3 image processor, helping ensure high-speed usability with strong image results.

Featuring an 100-6400 ISO setting, which can be extended to 25600, the Nikon D7100 features list is further bolstered by a 51-point professional grade autofocus system, 6 frames-per-second continuous shooting a 1080p Full HD video recording capabilties at 30 fps.

With the Nikon D7100 body weighing in at a comfortable 675g, the snapper, which also features a vibrant 3.2-inch wide-angle LCD display, benefits from magnesium alloy top and rear covers that offers weather resistant protection against damage from dust, dirt, drops and the odd splash of water.

Compatible with the full range of Nikon NIKKOR lenses, the Nikon D7100 is set to benefit from wireless connectivity options, when paired with teh Nikon WU-1a Mobile Adapter, which High Dynamic Range shooting capabilities will offering improved results in low-light situations.

Nikon D7100 Release Date and Price

Targeting the enthusiast level market, Nikon has confirmed that a Nikon D7100 UK release date will be held one month today, on March 21st. Offering wannabe owners out-of-the-box photographic capabilities, Nikon has revealed that the device will launch as a body only release or paired with a 18-105mm lens kit.

Whilst the body only Nikon D7100 price tag will set consumers back £1,099.99, those looking to pair the DSLR with a kit lens will be forced to splash out a penny shy of £1,300.
