Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, a sequel to the cult classic JRPG, has been announced for PS4.
The announcement was made during Sony’s Playstation Experience Keynote this past weekend.
Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom will be coming exclusively to PS4, but unlike its predecessor, it will not feature the talents of Japanese movie company Studio Ghibli.
The surprise sequel follows a young, animal-eared boy named Evan, who happens to be the monarch of kingdom known as Ding Dong Dell.
Evan must journey through a treacherous world covered in darkness to prove himself as a worthy king. Thankfully he isn’t alone, and will make plenty of new friends on his adventure.
Other characters in Ni No Kuni 2 include a man named Roland, who appears to be a visitor from another world.
The short trailer shows Evan travelling across a beautiful world, meeting new characters and seemingly gaining their trust and support as a leader.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch launched for the PS3 in 2012. Developed by Level-5, the title garnered critical acclaim for its beautiful art style and varied open world.
It was also known by many as Studio Ghibli’s first foray into the world of videogames, before the studio temporarily closed up shop in 2014.
