Images and video of a new Motorola phone have been leaked onto the internet, and it’s notable for picking up a few design cues from Google’s Nexus series.
Vietnamese website Tinhte appears to have scored some protracted hands-on time with the mystery device. Whatever you do though, don’t call it the X Phone.
It’s been rumoured that Motorola is collaborating with its owner, Google, on a high-end smartphone (dubbed the X Phone) for launch at Google I/O in May. However, this isn’t that phone.
Where the so-called X Phone is set to be a high-end 5-inch 1080p device, the phone featured here would appear to be an upper-mid-range alternative.
The report claims that the phone has a 4.65-inch 720p display much like the Google Nexus 4‘s – very good, then, but no longer cutting edge. It’s powered by a more-than adequate Snapdragon S4 CPU (or higher) and 2GB of RAM.
While it’s unlikely to be the X Phone, this mystery Motorola device has certainly borrowed a few elements from its master – chiefly that shape and style of its front section. Around back, meanwhile, it’s more reminiscent of the HTC One, with a subtly curved rear section.
This represents a massive change in design philosophy from Motorola following the blocky edges of the Motorola Razr HD and family.
On the software front, the device appears to be running stock Android but with a Motorola clock widget.
