Nexus 9 now available on O2 contract in UK

The Nexus 9 tablet is now available to buy on contract in the UK, courtesy of O2.

Google’s latest slate landed in Blighty in November last year, but is only now available to pick up on a monthly tariff.

Data plans available for the Nexus 9 range from between 500MB and 8GB, to suit an entire spectrum of data-chewers.

For example, you’ll be able to bag 3GB of data at £32 a month, with an upfront fee for the tablet of £29.99.

You’ll also be able to make use of the O2 Refresh tariff, which means you can upgrade early from another handset and tablet.

It’s not a bad deal, as you’ll only need to pay off the remaining value of the device, rather than the total device and airtime fee.

O2 has also offered to shell out anywhere up to £29 for a 2013 Google Nexus 7 as part of the O2 Recycle scheme. We’d advise against this though, as they go for significantly more elsewhere.

The Nexus 9 was unveiled late last year, landing as an 8.9-inch tablet co-built by HTC.

It shipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop straight out the box, and also showed off Nvidia’s then-new Tegra K1 64-bit chip.

TrustedReviews gave the Nexus 9 an 8/10 score, praising it for its big, sharp screen, powerful GPU, and good battery life.

Downsides included backlight leakage, some questionable design choices, and slightly disappointed stereo speakers, making it a strong tablet but not the Android hero we expected.
